    TD5 Wastegate Actuator Lubricating

    Hi all

Well my wastegate actuator is occasionally sticking and needs lubricating. Seems like I'm driving Charlie too gently these days

So what lubricant do people use and which end do you lubricate (eg turbo or vacuum spring end or both). I’m guessing that something heat resistant would be required.

    Cheers

    Steve

    Inox, Penetr8, 5.56, WD40, Penetrine, TAC2

    All will work admirably.

The pivot at the turbo housing is where it sticks

Undo the actuator unit and wiggle the arm back and forth whilst spraying where the shaft enters the housing.

    Then refit the actuator.

When i fitted the forge actuator i've cut the old one in half just out of curiosity cos it was sticky despite of lubricated and freely moving turbo pivot, too bad i didnt take pics cos it was clearely visible that the main issue was inside the valve body where it was a oily gunk built up on the walls which affected bad the diaphragm's movement so IMO there's the real problem rather than at the turbo side.
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
