How soon do you need to do your “HOT WIRE” as I have to do a similar set up for Steinzy so you can follow and ask any questions as we go.

    Cheers

I also have a caravan but we have a solar panel on the roof which charges the battery as part of its role.

When we are in Caravan parks the battery is charged when plugged into the mains.

This enables us to also go offroad and still have lights in the caravan at all times.

A further option I had fitted is another solar panel connection to run the engel through the caravan deep cycle battery.

Neither of these options may be of interest but they work for me.

As drivesafe knows I don't always choose the best people to help me with battery options but the ones relating to the caravan were installed at the time I bought the caravan and the installer knew exactly what I wanted to do and in the 6 years I have run this rig it hasn't let me down

The problem Harryw is not that you choose the wrong people deliberately, far from it and a problem that faces most people who know nothing about vehicle electric's, you went to a 4x4 chain store thinking that you were going to experts and they should have been.

The problem in your case is that ARB should have made sure the the franchisee either was qualified to do this type of work or made it clear to the franchisee, he should refer the installation on to professionals.

ARB have corrected the fouled up installation which is to their credit but it should not have happened in the first place and I wonder how many other vehicles are running around with the wrong set up.

Harryw you did the right thing and it’s in no way your fault that you ended up with what you did.

Cheers and as posted, just glad that all is well now.

Hi hiline, before buying solar panels, make sure you actually need them and will get adequate use out of them to justify their cost.

Depending on your intended use, an additional battery usually can give you more operating time for a much lower cost.
