    exhaust upgrade

have read a few posts about upgrading the exhausts on the 300tdi's, would it be worth my while removing the muffler and replacing it with a staight piece of pipe and leaving the smaller rear muffler on the rear

would i have to adjust the fuel pump, should have thought od this when i had the pump tweaked

im looking at a new straight thru exhaust on my 300tdi as well ,

one thing about hilines exhaust is when its at full song it doesnt sound too bad for a diesel

    Hi all ,

I,ve been reading about 3" exhause pipe . Isn't it too big for a 2.5l diesel engine ? If there is not enough back pressure on a pipe which is too big ,wouldn't it reduce the torque output ?

if it were an N/A diesal then yes but because of the turbo
    less back pressure the better.

but yes to an extent you can go too big in pipe size!
just ask the rice burner crowd!

    cheers phil

Does the 3inch pipe make a noticeable difference to power/torque? I assume it's from the turbo all the way to the end.

And is there an answer to his original question - should there be any fuelling mods or is just changing the exhaust all that's required?
