    Filter prices

    hi Guys
Going to get BlackBetty serviced before I go to Esperance.
Anybody got any tips on who has the cheapest genuine(OR GENUINE QUALITY) TD5 filter sets????
Will probably get the local mechanic to do it,the hoist at work isnt working and I have 2 pinion seals to fit that I bought when I got the Disco, plus Im going to get that oil pump bolt re-glued.

    Andy,
I generally find that www.Landrovers.com.au banner displayed here are the best even with freight and quick. Most of their stuff is genuine or Coopers / Crosslands so good filters. Their catalogue is great for reference. I have the older version on CD which may cover your Disco if you want it. Do you have tdi, V8 or TD5. I have the latest in hard copy that covers TD5 etc. If that is what you need I may be able to photocopy the Disco section for you.

Discovery automotive were not too bad price wise either if you could get them to answer emails.

I personally use Baldwin filters on my Defender. Found that the prices and quality are pretty damn good, and I figure that better the devil you know that the one you don't!

Nah seriously, they are a good filter and usually the guys look after you pretty well! I'm not sure who the supplier is in your area though!

Karcraft in Sydney are very reasonably priced, their website has grades of LR or other and they will tell you which you want for quality over the phone.

Coopers fuel filter for 300tdi $20.

    They'll ship as well.

Just a word of caution about filters. There is a bad batch of centrifugal filters that when installed are touching the top of the housing. Look out for these. The price difference between them was only approx. $2. compared with original part. So why would you bother to go aftermarket?

    Ryco diesel fuel filter $70.
    Crossland air filter $32.
    Ryco oil filter $29.

Obviously if there is aftermarket gear that does the job and is cheaper, it all still adds up.

    Cheers,
    Lyndon.

    Hi Craig and others
    Mine is the 99 TD5.
Yes Ive heard of the centrifuge filter problem.
I got some really good prices on non genuine filters from the supplier at work, yes they are Baldwin dealers, but we have had 1 or 2 filter failures, but mainly on hydraulic/transmission filters.

    Hi All
The following prices are for genuine parts supplied on my last service.
    AIR Filter $24.18
    Oil Filter $18.18
    Rotor oil filter 29.98
    Fuel filter $75.00
But I did purchase a separate Rotor Filter and at the spare parts section they charged $39.87. Guess i will not be buying my filters from the dealer any more. I have emailed Karcraft for some prices
    Regards
    Doug

Mann (Mann & Hummel) in Germany make the TD5 centrifuge, so if you can find a Mann dealer (not exactly easy) you should be able to source it cheaper than the L/R dealer.

Try these guys, $17 for air filter and $10 for oil filter TD5.

I've just rang them and he's calling me back with prices for both oil filters, air and fuel filters.
