    LED panels incorrectly labelled

Today, I wanted to replace the festoon incandescent lamp with an LED in my L322's loadspace lamp. I didn't have a festoon style LED but I had several LED panels that looked like they'd fit.

I was almost right - they almost fit. They were originally designed to use a festoon adapter to connect to power but I thought that was clumsy so a little bit of work on the sander and they slipped nicely into place. I superglued them to hold them and then laid on a bit of epoxy.

I wired them in and then tested them. No go.

Odd, they'd worked on the bench. I put them back on the bench and switched on my bench power supply to test. Then I found the terminal marked + was actually the negative, and vice versa. Who'd a thought it?

So if you plan on doing what I did, check them before putting them back into the car.

Now it doesn't matter how long they are alight when I'm camping.

The back of the lamp with the panel glued in, note the reversed wiring.

And showing the other side of the panel.

I bought a set of LED globes with a BPF base for my old car. Everything else in the world is wired for -ve earth these days but these globes weren't. There was no mention in the ad of them being that way either.

The Morrie or the RRC? With the Morrie that would be OK - unless you rewired it.
