Advice is to avoid them. Expensive and rubbish quality - especially in the LR sizes. I’ve had two lots of warranty returns and wouldn’t go back to them again.

    Good tyre deal

I know different size, but just bought 4 Bridgestone Dueller for my Pathfinder last week - 265 / 70 R16's from Bob Jane at Taringa with their $100 discount offer and they were only $204 a corner. Very happy with them, ride well, not too noisy and look good without being too blocky. Apologies if my comment is a bit tenuous on the Cooper question... PS No link to Bob J.

Angus I think you had better do some research on the interweb about Cooper Tyres and the (literally 100's) of unhappy customers that bought them. It seems Cooper only stand by their warranties whenever it suits them and they like to wrap the warranty up in conditions that are to say the least unbelievable. I say do your homework as there are a lot of better options out there than Cooper's. Add to the fact they are twice as dear as any other tyre...

If you're thinking of spending that kind of money it would pay you to invest in BF Goodrich .. they are a much more reliable tyre especially in remote areas. I did the Gibb River Rd all the way up to Mitchell Falls and Kalumburu without one problem on BFG. All the NW locals use BFG!

Have any of you looked at www.tyresales.com.au 245/75/R16 KO2 120S $301 fitted. if you don't need old tyre disposal have it deducted when you order.
I've used them and well satisfied with them.

    Hiyas all

I used Coopers in all since about '88, on all the high country trails, and all the deserts on the continent. They always performed, and always worked in the wet on bitumen. I can only recall a couple of punctures, and these were tradies tek screws! Only bad experience was me pressing my luck trying to extend replacement to Darwin from Canberra. "She'll be right!" Failed at Hells Gate bottom of Gulf on way to Roper River..............not much tread left at all. That wa a me FAIL! not the tyre. Anyway..............!

As to the "Poopers" comments one hears around the place, on investigation one finds that those have been run underinflated at some time prior. Not necessarily at the time of failure! Might have been 6 or 12 months before. Any wall de-lamination, tread failure, or similar can normally be attributed to running underinflated. Underinflation is excessive deflection = excessive heat buildup - damages the ply bonding/vulcanising!

Excessive deflection kills tyres whether on an earthmover, and aircraft or a car. Road vehicle design max deflection limit is 10%.

On my D2 loaded for three months I would possibly running 60psi in the rears for the highway. Fronts normally stay as always. When loads are varied one must do 2psi test on Passenger car tyres, and 4psi test on LTs. Never rely on the vehicle manufacturers' handbook values. Handbook values are set for ride and to provide "safe" understeer............................and in normal "domestic" use will be fine.

Off road going slow deflated and bulged :0) even up to about 80kph on corrugations, just watch/feel the tyre temp.

Only reason I am now on BFGs is that the Cooper distributor won't/doesn't do "sales" on deffie size!..............................and crappy PR!

    Cheers all

60psi, you must be joking? Have had the same argument with Maxxis/Tyrepower recently where on a car tyre they said they had advised us to run them at 40psi, which was rubbish. 3 sets and never told to run them any different to vehicle manufacturer chart. Then they also tried to tell me they were supposed to be run at 50psi. Then they tried to blame modified suspension (stock standard), tried to blame after market 17" wheels too (16-19 allowed on this car and same brand as the original wheels for Holden).
There is a calculator that is based on weight I don't have it on hand. We ran the Statesman at 36 psi which by the calculator is even overinflated. Just shows some of the so called tyre specialists have no idea what they are talking about.
