Sport or Slow mode???
On the Discovery there is a mode button for the transmission. At this stage it appears to change the shift points for the gears and makes it more responsive. The negative of this mode button is that you have to switch it on every time you start the vehicle.
So...a couple of questions for the experts 8O
Can you drive with this 'S' mode on full time without damaging anything?
If so, can you modify something to have it in 'S' mode full time and if you want to switch it off you can?
Cheers,
Lyndon.

I don't know about modifing to stay on at all times.
I think the only damage you will do is to you wallet with the frequency of how often you will have to refill.

Since were struggling here, well couple things. Firstly, I don't have specific knowledge of the disco system.
However, my experience from other vehicles suggests that it's just a different shift pattern. I wouldn't worry about using it all the time. If you floor it all bets are off, and it won't make any difference. Those buttons just help the part throttle response usually. They hold gears longer and kick down more on part throttle.
As to having it set... well this is just speculation but it's possible that there is a dip switch, or that it can be set electronically by your LR dealer to default to on.
