5cm is a good lift,..
I hate seeing sky scrapers on the road, mosty because it usualy isnt needed, and can make a truck more likely to roll ask yourself what the lift is for...
No matter how high your springs are, the object your going though still needs to clear your diff,.. This is why I like Bigger wheels,
they can cut down on your steering scrubbing on full lock, and you can have troubles fitting them under your gaurds,.
but on the plus side, the lift from bigger wheels wont put extra strain on your tail shaft, and will give you more tread to flatten out on the sand,.
Deck out your boot full of camping gear, and get a full tank of gass, with a full load it is easy for 3-4 inch lift to go back to 1-2 inches..
so my advice, 3inch spring and shocks lift, if you have leafys go Leaf over axle, run some good road tires for around town, this will make it easy to steer, and keep the speedo on the money,. then when your going off road, or on a trip, put your big wheels on,.. wich will allways have nice tread as they are not getting waisted on the roady, and since you are loaded up, you will be at a good hight, with lots of diff clearence,
save money just use spring spacers if your springs are in good shape,
or if you have leafys and you still want more after going leaf over, you can get extended shackles, you see the army ones for sale from time to time,.. or Climax, they will give u more travel...
Im not a fan of body blocks, in defenders, they are needed on some nissans or toyos or even discos,.. but a defender has few issues with wheel clearence, and even less that cant be solved with a angle grinder![]()
