Thread: FoamAir Filters - Uniflow - Any Good? Opinions/Advise

have many years experience using Finer Filters on twin 45 webbers.
great for performance (just LOVE that induction sound8) ) and dust collection.
terrible on maintenance.

you would be FOREVER cleaning and reoiling it.

if you remembered.

and then you have the problem of oil and airflow meters.

stick with paper.

I think paper filters are around the $40?

i have a ram air air filter. which is a foam filter. gives the 300 tdi lot more talk in the mid range. The only thing is i have heard hey can be a pain in dust as said before. We have a new paper one for when we are in dusty areas. What we are going to do is change it over to a paper one when we are in dusty areas

hmmm my 4x4, (when it's not getting fixed) only really goes off road so I best stick with paper if the oil ones clog quickly in dusty conditions.
It needs all the help it can get

Anyone know the cheapest place for, (not cheap and nasty) filters?

I had a finer filter on my 300 tdi, was great for saving a bit a money after the fourth or fifth change. Did about 130,000 k and then it disintegrated and went through the turbo bending one of the fins.

So much for the saving!!!!!

Stick to paper, check it regularly and you when you complain about the cost think about the alternative.

I have a picture of the bent fin if I can find it and figure out how to post it I'll put it up.

Also when it disintegrated it went all through the intercooler and clogged it as well. Good for the short term but after about 100000k you need to look at replacing. Which works out at about 2.5 paper filter changes. Almost the same money.

bloody hell, I wouldn't want that sucked through my carbs either.
I will stick to paper.

I hope you chased the supplier for compensation of some sort?

Mass airflow meters do not like them at all....possibility of oil stuffing up the meter.

I would stick with paper.
