    Battery charger recommendation

I’m in a secret Santa and need to buy the FIL a gift up to around $100. He needs a better battery charger. I was thinking of one of the lower amp CTEK chargers eg MXS5.0 or XS0.8.

However, I know there are other brands out there such as Projecta, and am happy to here experiences and recommendations.

    Thanks

I have both of those. The XS0.8 is permanently on my bike whenever it is garaged.

The MXS5.0 I use on the L322 for topping up, in AGM mode, the two AGM deep cycle batteries in the rear. It also gets used on the starting battery although I have a bigger 7-stage charger I generally use on it.

I suspect I should have bought the MXS7.0 but it's much dearer than the MXS5.0

Have a look at this bloke as his prices seem better than most: CTEK Battery Chargers , FREE SHIPPING AUSTRALIA WIDE

I see the MXS5.0T is the same price as the 5.0 CTEK MXS5.0T BATTERY CHARGER 12 VOLT 5A 8 STAGE AUTO CH

    Battery charger recommendation

I should clarify, he has a Porsche 911 1986, a bmw 330, and Subaru. None of which has a big battery.

    Is the XS 0.8 sufficient?

The 0.8 is a bit small to charge a vehicle battery, it can really only trickle charge one. The 5.0 would be a real charger capable of getting a decent charge into a medium to large 12V battery, leaving it on for a few hours. Ebay has them for a little over $100.

    No. Get the MXS5.0

The XS0.8 is better for a motorbike or similar.
