Hi I am having a delema.
My 89 Classic was leaking on the swivel seals, not bad after 16 years since I last replaced them. But when I had a good look on the drivers side I saw some pitting so completely removed and dismantled to have a better look and yes it looked like some water had slightly pitted the ball near the top bearing.
So I enquired about getting them rechromed, but looks like there ain't many if anyone doing them these days and to replace them with new ones not chromed but the black ones was only just over 120 each so I ordered some and when they arrived they were different ,these were part number 5105. I since found out they are for abs models, I don't have ABS. So I took them back and they ordered 7065..when they also arrived and I checked them they too were not correct.
The problem is I have a recessed step in the bottom of the swivel Chalis that a bronze bush sits it to centralise the axel shaft. Both the replacements don't have this recessed step but are just flat. I can't find any info on where to get the correct ones or if I now have to use the ones supplied but have to mod the axel shaft somehow. I didn't think it would be this hard to obtain the correct ones. My outer shaft is what Ashcroft call the thick ones as per their website. My outer shaft is 10 spline and pushes into the cv joint. It is not like all the images seen where the cv joint and halfshaft are one.
Does anyone have any ideas or info?
From my experience the outer shafts that I have seen on the range rovers are from 1970 to 1989.
They look nothing like the discovery one that has a rubber end cap.

Do you have any of the FTC 5366 in stock?
If so can you check for me to see if there is a step at the bottom where the axel shaft comes through?.
I just need to know that they are the correct ones.
Re the age and owners of the vehicle I have been the current owner now for over 20 years and there was only one other before me.
Both sides of the front swivels are exactly the same so I suspect it's all original, I don't believe anyone has been in there before me as it still looked like the factory locktight on all the bolts.
