These Sailun tyres are looking good:
Sailun TerraMax A/T On/Off Road Light Truck & SUV Tire
I found an old thread on here with a guy who used them and said that wear life and grip were both good.
Thanks 350RRC.
I think i will try a set.
I just have to call around and find somewhere that stocks them... Anyone know if the big tyre places (Bob Jane, Beaurepairs) stock sailuns?
If anyone is following along and interested in the cheapo Sailun tyres - Beaurepairs can supply them, but they want as much as the Pirellis for them!
So i found a little local tyre guy who can do them cheap.![]()
A friend had them on his 110, said they were good the first year but became very dangerous on wet roads, he had them replaced by BFG.I have a set of Westlake CR857, purchased them as they were cheap and offered a 50% off-road and 50% on-road pattern (like the much appreciated defunct BF Trac Edge)They are a bit noisy on dry tarmac, and super dangerous on wet tarmac and snow, the first time I drove them on wet tarmac I decided to turn back and head home, to make things even worst snow started falling which made the journey ever more epic. Now I have two sets of tires Coopers AT3 for winter and the Westlake for summer, I must admit that they are indestructible off-road offering good grip, very little side transition and are chip-proof.
Hey folks,
I put about 800km on the Terramax ATs in the last couple of days.
One of which it was raining and the tyres worked fine.
However, what pressures do you guys find is best to run 235/85s on a disco 1? The tyre guy said 40psi. But in the 800km i just did the middle of the tread has worn off the tell-tales markers (little hair bits that stick up) whilst the outside still hasn't worn them all off. So i presume they are over inflated a bit.
Perhaps 40PSI is best for a fully loaded disco - as I had the disco pretty empty on the run...
32 front 36 rear on my wifes disco 1
i find the 4psi difference front to rear works very well.
40psi is way too much on a tyre that size imho

They are rated as light truck tyres if that makes a difference?
Jax have 4 tyres for the price of 3 for Hankook ATM rf10. Will go and have a look this week. Works out to $717 for 4. If they are any good probably a good price.
