    Discovery 1 V8 / 300tdi axle ratings

    Hello everyone,
I need some more help on the journey of engineering my discovery ute. I've got a slightly overloaded front axle since the car sticker indicates the load rating of the front axle as 1,100kg.

I've read that 300tdi's have a front axle load rating of 1,200kg. Could someone who owns a 300tdi disco look at the sticker and confirm this? If you could also snap a photo of the sticker that would be great.

Finally, does anyone know what would be different on the axle between the 300tdi and V8? I could have sworn they were identical. But it looks like they have different part numbers which is unexpected!!

    Thanks,
    Stirling

I'm thinking that the max front axle weight could be due to the weights of the respective motors.
Maybe the Tdi weighs 100kg more than the V8 taking into account all the ancillaries(turbo/intercooler/etc).

    Thanks Arthur!
The specification of 1,100Kg for offroad conditions is a bit of a killer! But then again, I suppose the engineer will only be interested in on-road conditions.

Now I just need to get to the bottom of whether there is anything different between the 300tdi / V8 discovery axles. Or if it just has something to do with the spring ratings...

Anyone with info would be GREATLY appreciated!!

    Thanks,
    Stirling

If you replace the wire on your front winch with synthetic rope it may reduce the weight enough on your front axel enough so that you don't have to worry about the 100kg difference between the two axels which I suspect are identical anyway
