Pad knock back means pad is floating on pins able to squeal
I like running oil bearings so you don’t have that much that thought that’s in the back of your mind the inner bearing grease quality

I've had a steering wobble plus brake pad knockback happening for a little while on the 130; today I jacked up the front end and gave the wheels a shake, had some play in the l/h wheel bearing. I took the cap off, removed the outer bearing, cleaned and repacked it and put it back together and adjusted the preload. I had limited time so didn't do a full bearing service, just wanted to get rid of the slack to fix the above-mentioned problems. Here's the thing- driving it afterwards, the brakes- which have been squealing like a banshee for weeks- are now completely quiet. I have never heard of wheel-bearing slack being associated with brake squeal, it may be a coincidence, but there you are. Just to be clear, I did not do anything to the brakes- didn't even remove the road wheel.

Yes, wheel bearing play will affect your brake pads...I have had this recently. Minor play in the wheel bearings makes the wheel wobble and the brake disc bumps the pads and pushes the brake piston back into the caliper. You may have occasionaly experienced a softer brake pedal too.

Are you using genuine or aftermarket pads? I find i get no squeak from genuine pads
