How Much is Too Much????

Greased the drive shafts and uni's on the weekend and noticed that the uni on the front drive shaft at the gearbox end had a slight amount of movement in it (horizontal/vertical) when greased up it was ok but after a couple of hundred kays it's still got movement, I'm guessing its US and I will need to replace, is this correct or is there some life left in it?

Im also assuming that if it needs to be replaced that this isnt a job I can do in the garage and would need some sort of specialised tools to do the job, anyone got an idea of cost to get one replaced?

yes if it has movement its stuffed and a good vice helps to do the job its not that hard a job but if your not confident let a professional do it and a uni joint is normaly about $30.00 +

at repco or autobarn type of stores

Crap, it was only there last week for the auto service, if I had known about it they could have done it at the same time

Can I just take the propshaft off the car and get them (MR Autos) or someone else to do it or does it have to be balanced on the car or some thing :?:

no...you can take just the prop shaft...and your chassis number wouldnt go
astray when ordering the new part......some parts vary with different chassis numbers......
