Dash pod pull off in Defender

I want to put a switch in the bit in the dash where all the other switches live along with the cd player(u know, that bit), two screws at the base, do I have to undo the top part of the dash along the base of the windscreen to get it out? TIA

    In a word - Yup.

I'm guessing you have a post '02 fender?

    There are:
    - 2 screws in wach of the windscreen vents.
    - 3 large screws on top or sill.
    - 2 screws to remove passanger OMG bar (one is under LR badge)
    - about 3 on the drivers side to remove (or loosen) end plate of instrument console.

You need to do all this to get at the 3 screws on top of the radio console/pod.

You might want to get a couple of offset or flexible philips drivers as well, cause the screws around the window are a ******e to remove with normal drivers.

    Cheers,

pull the drivers instrument console out while you have the dash apart...some good access grommets in there..

Disco needs a heap of holes to make it easy to get a wire out, people with defs take a big drill bit and make thier own way out, , plus discos have a lot of stuff in the dash, where as defs runs the wires under the car then up and into the under seat,
