    Manifold and head clean?

    Hello,

Any tips on how to clean a head, manifold and block, removed from TD5?

Is oven cleaner and rinse safe?

The best is a engine rebuilders cleaning tank for a couple of days but in Guyra that might not be possible,
My manifold wasn't that dirty so i just used degreaser and made a couple of mops out of scourers and stiff wire, I wasn't that happy with it.

The modern oven cleaner isn't as good as the stuff from 30 years ago.

Would definitely be a long shot, but stranger things have been known to happen..
Notice there's some online chatter in regards to pitting, resulting from use of oven cleaner; I have not found proff of this.

    Inlet, packed with gunk.
Will replace exhaust manifold with an erg-less one.

Brake cleaner generally works well with some scrubbing, Careful using oven cleaner on alloy as sodium hydroxide and aluminium don't play nice together.
The exhaust manifold can be cleaned in a caustic tank .

Not suitable for alloy parts, but the dishwaher will do well if your wife is away. For alloy, my vote would be brake cleaner, but a good soak in mineral turps and a stiff bristled brush will probably also work.

I will give the manifold a cycle in the dishwasher.. Even though it apparently doesn't do the dishes properly...
I Will get some brake cleaner.. I've got plently of time so might organise to get it bathed.
