    2nd fuel filter.

For those that may not know, I have purchased recently a 300 tdi I noticed a couple of days ago that there is a second fuel filter mounted to the inside of the chassis rail just along from the fuel tank. Had a closer look today when I was servicing the Disco. It is covered in dirt so has not been looked at for some time. It is plumbed up. I am guessing it is a extra one fitted for some reason? Or do the 300 tdi have two filters?

    What he said.
There is a drain in the bottom the that should cracked open each service to let any accumulated water drain out.
As they get old the drain screw is apt to snap off, so be warned.
If it's not been looked at for a long time it's worth undoing the nut on the bottom and taking the whole canister off and giving it a good clean out.

Danny, dont use the drain plug on the bottom, clean the whole unit and undo the bolt on top.
The plastic plug is prone to breaking.
