Unfortunately that's the way the local dealership has gone. Add the aggravation of being a VW, LR and Suzuki place and there's probably not a great deal of Td5 expertise and experience there apart from the service manager who is too mired in paperwork and admin to find time to do any spannering.
It was the same when I had my SIII. The local dealership had never clapped eyes on a diesel one.
Apparently around here somewhere is a Td5 fanatic who I'm trying to track down.Quote:

Ask me hoe I know:bat:?. Or, better still, learn to do it yourself... Now, I know that isn't possible for everyone, for various reasons, but by golly it helps if you are ever stuck somewhere.
I know how to do it and I can do it. Mobility issues prevent me from leaning over the guards to get at stuff. Given that I was in the middle of nowhere I could deal with it but very slowly.
Oh well, at least I can still do stuff on my D2 that can be done from underneath. Next step is the centre diff - It's got a fair bit of lash in it. Maybe a transfer case rebuild is on the cards.

It is just possible that I could, on a swap when ready basis, have a TC you could do up before you pulled yours. It kinda depends on the answers I get on another thread ( A couple of newbie questions... ). I have 2 D2s here, both with CDL internals. I am definitely going to part out one of them. PM if you are interested, Moe isn't that far. I don't move fast either, but I can get it done.
Thanks heaps for that mate. I've already got an Ashcroft rebuild kit plus an ATB centre diff.
Now, if you had a couple of pallets of spare time I'd be VERY interested. As someone once said. "There's plenty of hours in the day, it's just that some bastard made them too short."
Well this sorry saga is not over yet[bigsad].
After a little more than 100km I seem to have about half a litre more oil than I started with.
The only thing that I can think of apart from gross incompetence which I'm not ruling out, is that somewhere along the line the o-ring dimensions may have changed. Of course the Turner head could be defective bit I tend to doubt that as they have a good reputation.
