Land Rover service intervals
Hi,
I just wanted to know whether anyone sticks to the LR recommended service intervals for major service. From my understanding LR recommends a major service every 40,000kms. I was speaking to the service manager at Graeme Cooper and he told me they recommend 20,000kms for a major service.
Will it affect the longevity of my TD5 if I stick to the LR recommendation? Would it be better to do the major service every 20,000kms?
Currently I get mine serviced every 10,000km at an LR dealership and they have quoted me only an intermediate service for my up coming 60,000km service.
Thanks,
goof

This is the plan which I use. If you do a search for 'service' you will get a lot of diffent things the guys do....plenty of options 8O 8O
"I have a plan which works out that you approx. halve the recommendations of LR. The half recommends are for oils & filter.
Change engine oil @ every 10,000 K's
Change centrifuge filter @ every 10,000 K's.
Change full flow filter @ every 30,000 K's.
Change diffs oils @ every 60,000 K's.
Change transfer oil @ every 80,000 K's. (LR recommended)
Change radiator water @ every 40,000 K's.
Change fuel filter @ 40,000 K's. (LR recommended) The water sensor is brittle and does not like to be removed & replaced. Also $130 each...you don't want to stuff it up each time you change the filter."
I do not go to the 'stealers' to get my Disco serviced. It is done all 'in house'
Really I think you should look at servicing properly...its too damaging to stretch the service intervals out.
Cheers,
Lyndon.

Damn, I've been doing my quite often then. I've put next to your figures when I do mine. It's a 93 200Tdi Defender!
I also do all of my work at home myself.
I will make a note though - that I give my vehicle hell! Even the devil doesn't have a patch on me behind the wheel!
