    TD5 handbrake rattle ??? D1 handbrake swap

Removed my handbrake assembly today to find the backing plate has severe wear marks where shoes have been moving on both the left and right hand side. Reading the tech bulletin it states autos are more prone. before i strip out my spare disco 2 auto to find the same thing u, can the whole handbrake assembly be swapped for a d1 assembly as these appear readily available.

Just weld the backing plate and grind it back and fit newlinings.
mine has gone 3 years with no noise.
    some reckon brazing is better.
make sure the intermediate shaft is not leaking oil onto the cable then down into the drum as IMHO this forms a grinding paste.
    regards Philip A
