RRC 7 vs 11 blade fan?

I have 3.5 v8 engine running a 7 blade fan - viscous coupling ceased and needs replacing.

QU is does the 11 blade fan pull more air and if so is it a direct bolt in replacement for the 7 blade fan?

Truck gets a little hot (110 to 115 deg) on long hill climbs towing van since I have supercharger re tuned. Running leaner. So if 11 blade is better and fits then would 'upgrade' while replacing the viscous coupling.

    Thanks for advice in advance.

If you were replacing the water pump as well as the VC, I would say to get a later water pump , say 91 and fit a VC and fan from a 300TDi Disco.

You would have to trim the blades a little to fit in the cowling.

I don't know which water pump you have. If you have one with a LH thread which is male, and the VC has a large 32MM nut then it might fit.

The advantage is that the white fans can fracture a blade which really makes a mess of batteries , radiators etc. The black 300tdi fans are glass filled so will not detach. I broke a couple of blades on the OTT and while it rubbed the radiator , it did not hole it.

The 300TD1 fan and VC provides much better cooling than a 17?blade fan.

    Thanks for the advice

My VC does not appear to have a nut on the rear (engine side) that I can see (see pic posted earlier).

So I am wondering if it is a fairly old style one - I don't know the history of the engine and it is not linked to current chassis/VIN.

I was considering replacing the water pump because if in there fixing the VC and the fan has ceased then water pump is probably warn - so why not do it while apart as preventative maintenance.

I note your advice re later water pump and 300TDI fan & VC - why exactly do you say the 300 fan and VC provide more cooling?
