    New driving lights...which ones?

My old round Lucas lights are had it.
    Glasses chipped and fogged.
They need to be less than 190mm from top of light to mounting surface on bull bar.
They mount on bar in front of radiator at bumper level.
    Not interested in mounting elsewhere.
And not interested in a single light bar as that would complicate mounting in same place.
What are some good lights that would fit?
    Thanks.

    Round or rectangular?
    Halogen or LED?

Re halogen, I was going to suggest Cibie Oscar's, but from the base of the mount they are 235mm tall.
Nite Stalker 215's are rectangular and are a great halogen light for the price.

You'll pay a premium for IPF's from ARB and IMO most Cibies and even Nite Stalkers are better. It appears Nite Stalker are Cibie reflector/lens copies made from good quality materials in Taiwan, and the housings are probably better finished than Cibie, which weather quite badly.

cjc's suggestion of Rallye 4000's is good too. Hella make some amazing lights.
There's some really good Narva's too.

As most everyone has gone LED crazy you can get some really good deals on halogen lights

I prefer the light of a halogen over most all LED's and the ultimate would be Fyrlyt's, but they're big suckers and $$$, but you get what you pay for.

I reckon I might know Tombie's opinion but what do you think of HID. Would you (and others can chime in with their opinion of course) consider putting HIDs in a pair of Oscars?
    Oh, and why?

I run a set of IPF with 70 w HID inserts they suit my use which is not everyones taste IMO.

Tombie has his idea`s and that is fine as is with every ones else`s idea`s

The only draw back with HID is is reflect back off sign`s and the time lag with switching on not the best for intermittent use but great on long drives i find

I know OzScott has done just that with an old pair of Super Oscars and really rates them. Even though they were designed way back in the seventies or maybe even the late sixties, god they were a good design.

The limited time I've spent behind HID's a few years ago I found them that little bit harsh/glarey, but it might come down to colour temp too. Oh, and they were factory stock headlights in the ex's Citroen.

    Haha.

And it’s cool to have your own ideas.

I also am a huge fan of Science and Medicine... New driving lights...which ones?

I’m getting old, and the last thing I want is to be doing something or using something that is proven to be damaging/degrading my vision...
