    Replacing Defender heater blower

    G'day,
    I did a bit of a search but could not find much info,
    My blower on the defender is seazed (I think)
    it is attached to the heater unit, and from what I gather they need to be removed from the truck togeather, I can see the 2 bolts in the frount of the heater modual, and have removed them, but apparently there are some inside somewhere? will I have to remove the factory air con unit in the pas-side to get it out,.. is there an easy way to take the blower off?
    what have other foke done??
    should I up grade the fan?

    ok, I did blow 3x 15amp fuses on her, and used 1/2 a can of wd40,
    upped the fuse to a 20 amp one wich dosnt really solve the problem, what ever it is, , but at least the fan blows,.. but only on the max setting, wich is allright as I only need demister, so blowing hard is what I like,

    I could not unbolt the heater, from what I can see, with out takeing the air con out from pas-side,,

    when I put the heater fan on max, it sounds like a small child has been caught in the unit, and is being ripped apart, then it gets up to speed and runs good, the fan feels tight to turn,.
    compared to my s3 wich turns like a rollerblade,

    Defender heater blower

    I had same problem with my 92 defender 110. It was a short circuit in the blower motor. I removed the heater unit (including the fan unit which is pop riveted to the heater matrix). There are two bolts on thr top of the unit (accessable from engine compartment) and two on the underside (accessable from the passenger side footwell inside cabin). There is a piece a board covering the bolt heads that you need to remove to get to the lower bolts, it is held in with metal tabs.

    I also had to remove the windscreen washer reservoir, the bonnet and the air intake to the heater in order to remove the entire hater assembly.

    My blower motor was unreparable and I refused to pay $500 for a new one. I found a similar motor at an auto spares shop and adapted it to fit. It cost me $45.

    yep it did help, i didnt want to take the air con out, so from what you say, i think I will cut the fan off and addapt it then reseal it.. but that will be somthing for next week

    I'm in the same boat as my heater/blower motor is buggered and requires replacing....Just looking for info in regards to this similar motor that u found as to what it was and where u found it.... Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.....

    Anyone know of a alternative to the Geniune Heater/Blower Motor that u can use on your Defender??
