They had started without my consent and I told the Service Manager that if they weren't doing the job FOC I would move it to an Indy.
I'm working on the basis that they are fixing it FOC.

Received a phone call from the Service Manager just before 5pm.

The car's fixed and will be ready for collection tomorrow !

No charge, they accept that it was probably their fault, apologies all round.
I had an interesting chat with him which I don't wish to discuss here and I'll be returning to them for servicing on the younger Territory.

With the young bloke working at an Indy it works out cheaper for him to take it to work for bushes, transmission oil changes etc. and servicing on the older Terri.
They did a TDV6 diesel cambelt recently without any of the tools that are supposedly needed. Marked belt & pulleys, locked the cam pulleys and replaced the belt !

    Here we go again......

Different Terri Diesel but HP fuel pump belt problem once again
New belt & tensioner fitted by an independant and after a couple of weeks it's shredded. The rear guide plate on the cam pulley has come off and the pulley rubbing against it caused some noise. SWMBO stopped the car and it was tilt trayed to the repairer.

    I have a theory.
I think the belt is not correctly positioned when installed, instead it's sitting over the steel guide plate when the tensioner pin is pulled. The motor starts and there's enough friction between the belt & side guide to run the pump but eventually the belt is split but the remaining part of the belt engages with the pulley. The stress causes the side plate to loosen & come off.

Problem now is that I'm told the repairer contacted Ford and the cam pulley is obsolete !!

Hopefully we can find a pulley from a wrecker.
Probably need a motor that's been damaged as I guess most would want to sell the motor complete

Or an independent LR spanner spinner who has a small pile of trashed TDV6 motors sitting out the back.

It crossed my mind that there may be a few LR TDV6 dead motors out there.

Thanks to BradC giving me the Land Rover part number it looks like a new pulley could be with me in a couple of days.

Just another belt & tensioner kit to purchase now.

Thanks, I'd already found them, it's just along the road from where I work
In the past the 2.7 motors were removed before they were put out (maybe ready for Disco 3 owners ).
I may head down with one of my boys and try extracting a pulley, any damage and we can just move to the next vehicle.....

I went to the Ringwood yard today for an oil temp sensor and grabbed a HPFP off a low K car while i was there for $95, there was 2 TDV6 models there 1 minus most of the top end like cams etc and 1 mostly untouched.
