    CV/hub/axle rebuild order

    G'day fellow Landy heads.

I'm currently going through the process of rebuilding the hubs on my defender and am curious as to what order people reassemble them in, ie do you reassemble it on the axle tube on the car, in order, OR rebuild the whole thing on the bench and then slide it into the axle tube and do up 6 bolts on the back of the swivel ball? Or maybe half and half?

    Cheers,
    JD

Depending on your workshop facilities, it is easier to assemble the whole lot on the bench, and then fit it to the axle housing - BUT the assembly is not only pretty heavy, but it will swivel when you are trying to lift it! Different story if you have a helper.

My feeling would be to assemble the swivel housing and ball, fit that to the axle housing, and then assemble in place. I have always done it in place.
