Where have you put your UHF's?

I am getting a UHF installed next week and am wondering where people have found it conveinient to mount them. I have a p38 rangie and am thinking of putting on the right side of the front passengers foot well. It should be easy enought o access from there. I have considered putting it on the dash but it is fairly soft so may not be that secure. Also on the dash it is very visible from outside and is in direct sunlight a lot.

Ideas would be good and pictures even better. I am getting the Icom IC 400 with the scanning chanels programed in.

    Cheers,

    Charlie

My '87 Hiline has the UHF in the centre console. Fits nicely and completely invisible to enquiring eyes.
My Dad used to have a P38 and he used a split system UHF, with the small head unit placed just in front of the gear selector. The majority of the unit went behind a trim panel in the load space, with the aerial mounted at the rear of the roof.

    Hijacking the thread, but

how does it go with the 300Tdi? Is it a worthwhile conversion?

"Department of the Interior" make great dash pods to suit but I can't find their site at the moment.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
