    Discovery 4 2011 Service Message

    Hi Guys,

I am having trouble clearing my "Service Required" message on my 2011 Discovery 4 (2.7L).
I have tried all the possible combinations of:

    Bonnet open
    Drivers door open
    Ignition on
Press Brake and Accelerator (60 seconds)

I have also tried the passenger door (In case of left hand drive config).

Can anyone advise on successful methods of clearing this message? Note the message only appears after the engine is started, not when the ignition is turned on initially.

    Thanks

It’s in the ECU, I think there’s a non diagnostic method for some, I’ll see if I have it somewhere and if it’s applicable to your vehicle.

    Someone had success with this:

    1. Press start button (no brake)
    2. Open the bonnet
    3. Open the driver door
    4. Note: Manintenance resetting information is not displayed on the instrument cluster. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, and brake pedal, and hold for 60s.
    5. Release pedals and press “stop” button
    6. Press Start and check whether manintenance information is cleared
    7. If maintenance information is not cleared, repeat the procedure.

You need one of the electronic tools that plug into the OBD2 socket. I have a CAN-Mate SRT to reset mine but I dont believe they work on D4s. You will either need to get someone with the right tool (like the IID) to do it for you or buy a IID.

I have heard of the processes like you and Tombie have mentioned but I have never found anyone online for whom they actually worked.
