IIRC the OE part is made by Dayco?
Their QC is usually pretty good.
Anyway, has anyone noticed any vibe difference between a good OE harmonic damper and the Ross?
Way back an old race engine builder mate swore by Ross dampers, wouldn't use anything else.

If I remember correctly Laney also had a dayco one fail shorty after if you do a search. ( not from me) The dayco ones being flogged on the circuit are Powerbond. they are not dayco boxed. We had no trouble with Powerbond in the early days and sold quite a few without issue, dayco is supposed to have taken them over. I was told. There really isn't much choice out there , the Ross are the ultimate but come at a price, not every punter wants to spend the money though. Maybe there was a bad batch? you make it sound like it has not been an issue , but a few years back when a lot of subscribers owned td5's there was a continuous onslaught of posts on here about harmonic balancers failing and the subsequent requests for help to remove/replace, along with the considerable expense. I made special tools up for the job and there were more than one sticky thread raised to help owners through the job. I stand by what I said...the Land Rover harmonic balancer on the td5 were a piece of crap for whatever reason and you will have noticed that Land Rover fixed their issue on newer engines. You should not have to buy better aftermarket parts for your vehicle for it to be reliable....some Land Rover owners seem to accept this. I don't.Quote:
