Bush mechanics TD5 harmonic balancer track side repair

One of my customers had a TD5 Harmonic balancer go on him whilst traveling in remote NT out back.
We expressed him a new one but he needed to travel over 1000 kms to collect it.
He just emailed me this pic of his Bush mechanic fix with cable ties that got him to civilisation, thank the gods for Cable ties, it lasted the over 1000 km trip on out back roads. worth carrying some, along with the old number 7 fencing wire.
    pic of cable tie fix.
    Cheers, Mario

If you are doing outback travel in a td5 you should really invest in a Ross Harmonic balancer

Great fix! He shoulda got some 8g wire, pair of jumper leads and car battery and welded it hahaha
1000ks that is a long run surprised it all held up the stretch in the cable ties would have helped.

    Good story cheers

why should you? because Land Rover made a really **** product?>

in 35 yrs of driving before I owned my D2 I didn't have to change a harmonic balancer. Then when I bought a D2 , I had to change 2.
