It is my understanding that if you put a vehicle on club rego you don’t pay stamp duty. HOWEVER if you put a vehicle on full rego - you DO. At least that is my experience in Vic, with my 5 vehicles on club rego..

But did you fill out a transfer document so that the vehicles are actually registered in your name ?Quote:

Good question - I have never filled out a transfer form. I have always bought the vehicle “as is”, asked for a receipt as proof of ownership, but never filled out a transfer document or paid SD.
That's where I wonder if VICRoads keep info on the vehicle (chassis/engine No) would the previous owner be listed as the current owner ??Quote:

Vicroads state that registration is not proof of ownership. They don't keep that information any more.
Your receipt is proof of ownership.
A vehicle can be owned by one entity and registered by another nowdays.
