    Prepare distributor for Holley sniper

I'm planning on installing a Holley sniper into the beast. Pretty sure the engine is a p76 v8, however, I'm pretty sure I'm guessing when it comes to understanding the distributor and integrating it with the sniper.

The sniper has the option of ignition timing control and I'd like to have it work! It details the need for either a magnetic pickup distributor or Holley dual sync. The process requires the mechanical and vacuum advance on the distributor to be locked out (that makes sense to me from a timing control point of view).

So... I believe (ie guess) I have a VR distributor (aka electronic) - picture attached. The vacuum advance has been removed, as has the original amplifier from the body. The ignition timing is currently controlled by an ECU, so I'm assuming the mechanical advance must be locked out (if there was there to start with).

BUT... I have no idea when it comes to distributors!! E.g. if the dstributor is a 'magnetic pickup' - quite possibly a numpty question, but I just don't know if they're (a VR and magnetic) one and the same, or different. Subsequently, I have no idea if the current dizzy will work with the ignition control.

Any help would be appreciated. I have the tridon equivalent of the BIM024 if that will help!

That is a magnetic pickup distributor. (Hint: there's a magnet inside the wired bit that would attract a small screwdriver etc.)

Any idea what the pickup coil output signal voltage is?

Nope, but it would vary widely with RPM and air gap.
