Thanks for that peter the tooth count will be helpfull for low range as for the elusive crawer gear or reduction gear ive been told by a few reputable surces now that its a fallisy the unicorn **** gear i call it now as thats how rare it would be![]()
G`day Chris
I`ve never found a tooth count for low range gears written anywhere , i guess the theory is their all the same so no need .
I do however have some bits in the shed and my count is 52/27
I`m not aware of any lower gears but they may well exist .
I had a look at the final drive ratio in low range for LT95 and LT77 , although the transfer configuration is different the low ratio is as good as the same .
LT77 1st gear is 39.02:1 ...... 2nd gear is 25.04:1 ..... 3rd gear is 16.14:1
LT95 1st gear is 47.84:1 ...... 2nd gear is 28.78:1 ..... 3rd gear is 17.69:1
4th is 11.75:1 for 77 and 11.76:1 for 95 .
I guess there`d be a need to know the lower , low ratio for the 230 transfer and compare the final ratios as the difference between the 77 and 95 1st gear low range final ratio can be see above .
Cheers

there has been a custom made gearset for the lt95 thats got a lower than stock ratio..
From what I remember of it it required grinding of the case to make room for the gearset so was never put into production and the extra reduction wasnt worth it as it was easier to achieve the same effect by dropping in lower ratio diffs and fitting the gearset with the higher ratio hi range to offset it for normal driving.
there could be just one of these things in existance and it will be my luck to have some guy get reccomended to come and see me to get it rebuilt and Im going to spend months trying to work out why I cant set it up as per the manual .
