ABS pump keeps running

Discovery series 1 94, The ABS pump keeps running, even when i start the car I have never heard the pump running until this morning. Then when i shut the car down the pump keeps running, making a vibrating sound.
The only way i could shut it down was to remove the fusable link.

Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?

p.s. its been raining this morning and only started after i went out.

EDIT*is it safe for me to use my car if the fuse for the ABS is removed?

Me thinks me fixed it.

Can someone tell me for sure tho. Is the senser on top of the brake fluid cap could have anything to do with it?

I gave it a clean out and it worked after that :?

Anyway its all ok now

sounds to me like a relay may have been stuck on.....
pulling the fuse out may have reset the relay...for now....

if it was a relay....it will probably happen again.....

the relays should be labelled just like the fuses are on the fuse box cover...

I had a look and they are all the same in colour and numbers :?
I should be looking under the glove box area ,right?

There are three relays together.
I think from reading an article long ago that they are under the bonnet but I could be wrong.
Anyway they are all just $10-15 relays so replace the lot.
apparently they do not warrant new ABS pumps unless you replace the relays so its a common problem.
