Thanks - my trailer is 1600Kg and weighs 400Kg hence why I'm trying to get it under 1200Kg. My towing vehicle has an electric brake controller so if I had a bigger trailer with electric brakes, I'd use it, but I don't know anyone who does have one or even where one could be hired, so I'll go with my plan. The trailer would happily take a lot more, I'm just trying to do the right thing as the trip is quite a distance and not just local.
What sort of distance?
When will you be travelling?
I might know where there is a trailer that would suit.
Thanks Mick - this weekend. Was going to ask about yours but to be honest given that it will fit in an 8x5 with ease, I'm just grabbing a work trailer. Will be easier to tow over the distance planned.
The weight from the specs is with a full tank & spare wheel .
My "Lightweight" with petrol engine , one half tank & one empty tank was 1580kg on the weigh bridge . Specs have it at 1510 kg with two full tanks . But the underneath has a thick bitumen coating . So not really a Lightweight . ( When converted to EV it came out at 1460 kg on same weigh bridge)
So I had to convert my 680kg trailer to 4 wheel electric brakes and a breakaway system so I can legally tow it.
If you have some 600-16 cross plies , they are significantly lighter than 750-16 and even more lighter than steel radials.
Drain the tank, move the tools , spare wheel and battery into the tow car & carry a jerry can you might go close.
This site: SERIES I, II, IIA, III SPECIFICATION suggests c. 1225kg (2702lb) unladen. Shouldn't take much to shave that to under 1200kg.
Interesting - that's a different weight to the specs on another site I was looking at - I prefer this one. 😁

If Gav lets 30 pounds out of each tyre that will reduce the vehicles weight by 120 lb (54.5kg) and thus bring it down under 1200kg as is required.Quote:
