This is also the understanding I had, that it was based on the highest output engine proved for that model. I wonder if a series 2 could be classed as a similar model as the stage 1’s

A Stage 1 is a Series 3 - I dont think Stage 1 is an official name and it is actually something like Series 3 V8 - but we also put the Isuzu in it.[bigsmile1]
I read through pages and pages of regs on the power increase thing.
There are 2 codes. One is the 20% increase or whatever the figure is, and is the code that most of us use I guess. HOWEVER! it's not the end of the story, if you want to go bigger you can with a 4x4, there is another code that is for 4wds that allows a bigger increase in power, I didn't read all the regs on this one because I wasn't really interested in the fine details at the time. The gist of it seemed to be that you could do pretty much whatever power increase you wanted; obviously there was engineering needed and I'd assume brake upgrades etc.
Just think of all those guys who have 800nm patrols - they have FAR FAR more power than the 20% increase, more like 150%.
Beware using Stage 1 engine numbers. They were LWB 109" only. Paul, is yours an 88"?
