Anyway, it wouldnt recieve the other cars anymore, so we scanned the channels picked them up on ch17 clearly (whilst everyone else was on 16 :? ). Yet when we responed we where breaking up. Seemed as if it was operating at a frequency between channels

    I thought this was strange/funny.
Other than that, it was a cool radio.

I have no idea. We just listened for the rest of the day.
I did like the style of it though, the unit was just so big :?

Got an ICOM 400 pro. Just got it 2 weeks ago so still working out how all the bits work. I got the 65 extra police channels, some of the information that comes across from them is pretty weird. I only get the just out of Brisbane coppers as the in Bris ones dont use UHF radios anymore. Some crazy people in this world.

I've got a uniden UH 12, it is a pretty basic model.

Mainly because it was the cheapest around. As yet I have not had any problems with it.

Has anyone got any issues with this basic radio??
Good, bad or whatever. I would like some feedback

Iv'e got a GME TX3400 in the Landy and a TX4200 in the Suby.

We bought some 5w handheld Unidens for the cadets.

They're all good radios, never had a problem.

With the car radios, on a good day when in the higher part of town I've picked up the repeater in Ravensthorpe (160km away as the crow flies)!

    I forgot to mention.

I also use a couple of cheap Uniden hand-helds which have been bloody great when needed.

Base radio is an old Pearce Simpson. Squelch has pretty much gone now, but it still works fine!

i've got a GME TX4400 mounted in the roof console. it's a bit bigger than the 3400 but pretty small when you compare it to the super cheetah AM CB i used to have. i got this one mainly for the extra 20 listen only channels which the guys that i bought it from, kindly programmed all of the police channels into. not only makes for great entertainment, but keeps you informed of trouble spots to stay away from.
has a few handy features above the 3400 also.
i wasn't worried about the remote head stuff as i would then have to find 2 mounting spots instead of just 1.

I have Unidens. Have had 3 with no problems at all. Have had the one I have got now for about 10 years. Only recently the hand piece died and had to be replaced. Great under rated units. If I was to buy again I would get a remote head unit either Uniden or GME.
