TD5 - Diesel in cooling system

    Where do I start looking??

Have no idea how long it’s been doing it, as it’s the brides daily drive.

A secondhand fuel cooler?? (with new seal kit) was fitted last service the original was suspected to be faulty.

Would a faulty fuel cooler cause diesel to enter the cooling system??

    Cheers

Yes it would cos the return fuel presure is higher than the coolant pressure and better pray to be the cooler than a crack in the head which can be the cause of that too

Quick and easy way to test the fuel cooler.

Disconnect the coolant lines at the cooler and join them together then run the engine. If diesel comes out of the fuel cooler coolant connections the fuel cooler is faulty.

    Thanks for the tip.....

Just had a look and there is three coolant hoses, how do you join these together.

I did think about removing them and just let coolant (Diesel) run onto the ground.

Think I will just get it flat bedded to my mechanic.

You have join only the two from the back of the cooler and clamp/clog the one from the front which comes from the radiator then the coolant circuit will not be affected.

Good point, forgot there were three. There is a thermostat in the end with two pipes. You could just join all three together using a ‘Tee’ to prove a point.
