ARB compressor going on and off with locker engaged

I finally got my ARB air lockers and 4.11 gears fitted upARB compressor going on and off with locker engaged. But I'm having a problem with the air compressor cycling on and off when I activate the rear locker. After I switch the compressor on it will run and then switch off as normal. But when I engage the rear locker the compressor will switch on and off. On for 2 seconds then off for 2 seconds continuously. And if I engage the front locker the compressor will stay on running till I switch it off. When I turn the lockers off you can hear the release of air.

These are my first set of air lockers so I might be missing something. Any help or tips would be great. I really want to use themARB compressor going on and off with locker engaged

ARB air leakers, eh? Wouldn't touch them myself, too many problems compared to the gold standard Ashcroft ones. Friend of mine drove up to the Maralinga Lands recently and another guy snapped his leaker spool in half on a sand dune. That was a towing trip to remember.

I'm no expert - I understand air lockers work on positive pressure to activate them - so it sounds like you've got an air leak in the line between the rear locker and switch/on valve.

I'm only using them as they were in a D2 I parted out. And for the price to set it all up it was to good to let go ARB compressor going on and off with locker engaged

The lockers are good, the Ashcroft fanboys always come out. Just find the airleak, start with the fittings and detergent. then the air compressor tank depending on the vintage and then check the axle breathers to see if its from within the lockers.
    Cheers

Will do. Thanks for that. I'll test for leaks.

Take heart mine has been fine for years without any issues so once it’s sorted it’s ok

I had twin ARB on my old defer, worked perfectly, yeah the rear used to suck the smallest amount of oil when disengaging...like very small mist.

I had an air reservoir and never experienced the compressor cutting in and out....I.e. loosing pressure.

Check everything external first, it would be strange for both lockers to have big internal leaks..

Ok an update. I tested the connections with soapy water and couldn't see any bubbling. ARB compressor going on and off with locker engaged Then with just the ignition on and compressor switched on I tried to engage the rear locker. That's when I could hear a slight hissing. It sounded like it was coming from the diff breather on top of the diff. ARB compressor going on and off with locker engaged
So does that mean it is a diff out job to fix it? And what would be the cause of it?
    Thanks
    Chris

Yep sounds like it’s an issue inside of the diff.....sorry don’t have any knowledge of the internals as previous had them fitted and they just worked.
