    Discovery1 3.5l V8 alternator belt problems

    Hi I keep losing my alternator belt m-section belt anyone have a fix they have found

    Bracket holding the alternator to the head is probably cracked, and the support strut to the timing cover is either missing or not fitted from new.

    All brackets there and in good condition I have changed alternator pully for one a little bigger. Yes it will spin a little slower but the belt has more traction so I will see how that goes

    Have you run a straight edge (steel ruler) across the pulleys to check alignment ?

    Well thanks for the thoughtful advice the pully change on the alternator seems to have fixed the problem. Did some research on the alternator it appears to be a 80amp alternator and that is big for a little belt however so far so good
