    soft? pedal on D2.

had to drive the D1 the other day and
    holy brick walls batman
the pedal is rock hard compared to the d2,,
    is this an ABS thing?
keep finding it hard to pull up even at slow speeds, (though this could be the auto working against me)
anyone else have a long travel brake pedal in a D2?

The D2 runs a soft peddle and a long one at that too.

When I jump into the wife's car for the first couple of braking applications the wife & kids almost end up in the windscreen. :?

    Luckily someone invented seatbelts 8O

    Cheers,

Sounds like the master brake cylinder needs to be replaced. Same thing happened to me. I didn't realize it was gone or how bad it was until the dealer said it needed to be replaced at service. Once it was replaced the difference was amazing. No more soft pedal.

The pedal in my D2 is soft with very long travel when compared to my D1, but it stops extremely well, and I've never had to pump it. If there is a problem then its never been picked up at service time, and I find my mechanic is always very thorough. The D1's brakes feel wooden by comparison, but it stops OK, I guess they are still bedding in after being overhauled (reconditioned booster, new caliper pistons all round, new disc rotors and new brake pads).

Yep, my D2 has always had a soft brake pedal. When I replaced the rotors and pads with DBA/Bendix setups, the pedal didn't feel any different but the stopping improved a fair bit. Mind you, on the rare occassion where I really had to mash the brake in a panic stop, it always pulled up very, very well.
