    Disco Vibes

I have a vibration that kicks in at about 95km/h and increases with intencity the higher the speed. I have replaced the axle bearings f and r, the front CV's , the shocks and springs and put new tyres on and had it aligned and balanced but still this vibration. the vibration isnt as bad if you are going up a hill when the drivline is under load and when you are coasting down a hill with no throttle input it is perfect at all speeds but when you are at cruising speed with light throttle input it is frightning. I checked the uni's and they appear and feel good and solid in their movement. So could it be the Roto joint how can i tell or is it likley to be something else. Help please loosing hair and sleep

Sounds like a crook uni joint. Try pulling the front propshaft out, locking the centre diff and test driving it. If the vibe goes away, you know it is the front propshaft uni joints or splines. If the vibe is still there, refit the front prop and remove the rear one to retest.

I thought of doing that but by locking the centre diff it puts me in low ratio and i wasnt sure if that would strech out to 95km/h as that is the point at which the vibration starts. Is it possiable to manually select centre diff lock with out low ratio? and will that do any harm.

You can lock the centre diff in high or low ratio!

Spudboy is correct, the little lever moves sideways for difflock, fore and aft for ratio changes. Just leave it in high range and move the lever sideways to engage the centre difflock.

ok well i couldnt see how i could lock the center diff in high even the diagram on the knob and sticker only indicated a forward and backward movement no side to side, anyway that aside i replaced the three uni's and the Roto-flex joint and it has fixed the issue. I replaced the Roto-flex joint first then took it for a drive and this alone resolved it but seeing as i just bought a new compressor and a load of air tools and i wanted to play with them some more, so i replaced the three uni's just for good measure.
Thanks all for your advise everyone it was much appreciated.

A 96.5 model disco you should be able to just push the lever to the side (left) in Hi range....

    Got a digital camera?

Take a pic of the Tranfer Box shifter and email it to me...
