The vacuum pump on my 300tdi has developed an oil leak. It appears to hardly leak at all, but once the brakes have been applied and relaxed, a dribble of oil can be seen on the bottom edge. Is it possible to remove the vacuum pump, drill out the rivets holding it together and replace the gasket, then bolt it back together? At the moment, it needs a litre of oil replaced approximately every 400~500km or so.

Its a common repair to remove the rivets and replace with bolts, the gasket is a shaped type of oring which can't be bought but rtv will seal it. Also run some around the core plug as they leak from there too.
Use 2 gaskets when bolting back onto the block.
