    Lightbulb 3.9L v8 into discovery 2?

    Asking a hypothetical question here my TD5's motor has seemed to have had it, it's making a terrible racket a few of my mechanic mates are pretty sure is piston slap from cylinder 4
    Now I have been putting In a bit on refreshing my D1 I've had the motor sitting around for a bit pretty much newly rebuilt even though I finished it a few months ago, car is looking pretty sad and needs new rego

    So I was wondering what issues or what would It take to swap the V8 into the d2?

    As said this question is purely hypothetical its just a stray thought but still would be nice to get some decent answers from the guys who know

    While you should theoretically be able to bolt up a complete D1 engine/trans to a D2 the electronics on the vehicle would be nigh on impossible for anyone short of an electronic engineer to sort out. Better off hunting for another TD5 engine or another complete vehicle.

    Yeah I agreed completely but makes me think to I've seen LS engine swaps and also Merc rover's I wonder how they do it especially merc rover's since they are manual pump

    Eevo on here has put an LS into a(V8) D2 and got the fancy bits working IIRC. Might be worth an ask.
