Oil Pump Bolt With Loctite
Hi all, just an update on the above.
2001 TD5. 110,000 klm service yesterday at Graeme Coopers. Bolt was inspection at the same time.
Verdict, bolt was nice and tight with loctite. Reapplied loctite, now have peace of mind.
Maybe Land Rover had this problem sorted out by 2001 models!

I have an '00 TD5 & told my mechanic this after reaading this on the site. He was unaware of this & I gave him a copy of the article. I am coming up to my 100,000 service (big one) & will have a new bolt put in.
Thanks to all (& this site) for stopping what could have been a costly exercise.

Did mine a couple of weeks ago at home boys, an early 2001 Defender and it was fairly loose - not a drop of Loctite. It took literally no effort to crack the bolt - well worth the couple of hours spent and the price of a new sump gasket. Daz
