    Reversing light switch

First post so I hope someone can answer ....

What's the best way to get at the reversing light switch on a '96 manual Tdi disco - go down through the top ( removing the gearstick boot etc ) or go from underneath.

I had a look from underneath - I think I can see it up there but can't reach it.

My reversing lights don't work at all - I suspect the switch. Could it be anything else ?

unplug the switch then get a jumper wire and put this in the plug going to the lights if they work then it could be the switch (may be a worn detent or shaft)

you might be better getting at it from the other end. check the lights first and work backwards. you may find it's a broken wire or a bad earth.
