    96 Disco central locking

    Hi Folks,

My Disco had central locking probs when I bought it. I bought a kit as it had everything, (and cheaper than buying 4 individual actuators) and the three slave units now work fine. The master however is still a problem.

The original master works, but "ticks" all the time after actuating. The new master actuators are 5 wire, and without knowing the internal circuits, have not been able to get it to work using the original 4 wire system. I have been told you can't get the 5 wire to work on the 4 wire system, and I don't want to have to replace the original wiring just to support the new unit.

Priced a new 4 wire unit at the local Landy Stealer and it's $387AUD! Do I have to look through the wreckers, or is there a 4 wire, after market unit, out there that will work?

    All thoughts greatfully accepted.

All sorted, the Missus found a master at a wreckers for $20, plugged it in and works perfectly with the aftermarket slaves. $70 for 4 new actuators is so much better than the cost of one new unit. ;-)

Tranny fluid, transfer and diffs next week. Letting the driveline guys do the tranny as they pump the new fluid through, replacing the touque converter as well.
