Defender parts
Hi Andy. Yes that may be the reason although I remember it whirring on shut down when it was a new vehicle. I'll have to get out before shutting down and with the bonnet open try and hear it over the normal clatter, then shut down and see what happens.
The people that sold me the bits (Discovery in Wangara) assured me they were not the type that had caused probs. in the past and in fact they reckon I didn't need to change it or the oil filter.
But as I told them if new oil goes in so does a new oil filter despite LR saying otherwise.
I don't like the thought of my nice clean oil being contaminated with filth straight away.
Happy motoring.
Alan.

Will be flying over to see the supplier next week.
I'll have lots of details then and hopefully some full price lists so I can start pricing this stuff properly.
Will be in touch!
Cheers
Mike

Mike, if it is a Mann, perhaps your supplier can also supply a Mann W930/20. This replaces the ERR3340 filter used in virtually everything else, (V8's and diesels) and is a much better filter than the OE one (made by Delphi) and any other aftermarket one. I'm currently using a Donaldson Synteq (synthetic media, very high flow and filtration) but it's a touch too long, and in extreme situations the diff juuust touches....
I tried for several months to get Mann Oz to import the Tdi/V8 filter, but they just weren't interested.......

I tried the Cooper brand, no wind down whir or noise, swapped with genuine LR and could hear wind down. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
