Yep it happens to all of us. Noticed a new vibration the other day and sure enough on having a look on the weekend the coupling is shot. Ordered one from Graeme Cooper this morning, $140.00.
The car's only done 140 000km however it was sitting in storage for 3 & 1/2 years which probably didn't help. I do also recall that the LR dealer had replaced one under its initial warranty fairly early on, around 30-40 000km saying that they did have a bad batch........

Our rubber coupling ( original 170k ) was looking tired. I replaced it with a cheap non gen one. Broke it on the first track it did, had to fit original one back on. Finally it died last weekend

Have been quoted about $250 for a genuine one 8O

might be worth trying a wrecker for a good used genuine one, there must be plenty out there that have not had a hard life.

our Disco is a V8 auto with 50mm lift & gets used reasonably hard off road so pretty happy about the lifespan of the original part. I wont go for a non genuine donut again.

I have been suffering a total vehicle vibration at 100 km/h and by a process of elimination it must be the donut...Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to genuine spare parts I go

Not as bad as the Alfa though....the donut was located just next door to the exhaust and used to go every 30,000 km and as the gearbox was in the rear diff the vibration in the drive shaft was horrendous at 5000 rpm 8O

I bought a genuine one from a landrover specialist (Morwood Motors in Canberra) for $99 in January.
