V8 Disco fuel filter

My recently acquired 1999 SII Discovery V8 is showing signs of fuel starvation. From what I can gather, the fuel filter seems to be in the fuel tank, part of the fuel pump ( bloody stupid place to put a fuel filter!! Must be the same Pommie engineer who put the distributor between the back of the block and the firewall. I wonder if they only do these things on the ones they send to Orstralia?). Can anyone enlighten me as to how I might locate it, how to tell if it is clogged and, if it is, how to clear it? I know, I know, with the price of petrol I might be better off as it is but well, you know, it's a V8 thang. Thanks.

:? :? umm... a V8 Disco II doesn't have a distributor... so don't spend too much time back there looking for one!

As far as the Fuel filter goes - you are right... stupid place for a filter..

you might well find the Rave CD's available through the emporium here very useful... the diagram above came from one... great value. $15.00

Mark , thanks for the schematic and for pointing me at the CD. I will obtain a copy ASAP. You are right of course about the dissy, slip of the typewriter, but, in any case, you do NOT want to be replacing the spark plug leads on that engine unless (a) you are a masochist ( you REALLY want to explore your vocabulary of 4 letter words © someone who is supposed to know tells you that will fix your problem. It didn't hence the fuel filter question. As a new owner of a Land Rover I am finding lots of quirky things like the mystery dash lights, the cunningly disigned rain gutters etc etc but I DO love that V8.

As far as changing plug leads... yea.... I use a really good mechanic down here and there are some things I'll do and others I leave for Glen... that's one of the Glen jobs!...

Enjoy that V8.. they are a very addictive toy...
